A double-hung window uses two sashes that slide up and down inside the frame. You can raise the lower sash, lower the upper sash or open both. This style gives you flexible airflow without a sash that swings into the room or outside the wall.

Balance hardware supports each sash as it moves in a separate vertical track. You can open the lower area, the upper area or both areas for ventilation.

Two moving sashes give you more control over where air enters. You can open the top, the bottom or both. However, wind and room layout will still affect the airflow.

Double-hung windows come in custom sizes. However, each frame system has limits based on glass weight, sash shape and balance hardware. We confirm the final size before the factory starts the order.
Before we quote the work, Falcon WD checks the old frame, sill, jamb depth and exterior finish. Then we identify the right installation method. A retrofit installation keeps more of the old frame, while full-frame replacement removes it.
A double-hung window does not automatically meet egress rules. In fact, the lower sash and centre rail reduce the clear opening. The review must use the exact window design and the rules for that room.
