Answers about window and door quotes, product options, installation, timelines and warranties.

Quotes, Estimates and Payment

How much does window or door replacement cost?

Replacement products are custom ordered, so the price depends on the opening size, window or door style, glass package, colour, hardware, installation method, exterior finish and any structural or interior work. Falcon WD provides a written project quote rather than relying on a generic per-window price.

Can Falcon WD prepare a quote from photos and approximate measurements?

Photos and approximate dimensions can be enough for an initial review or preliminary estimate on some projects. Final measurements and specifications must still be confirmed before custom windows or doors are ordered. Photos should show the complete opening from inside and outside.

What happens during an in-home estimate?

The representative reviews the existing products and opening conditions, discusses styles and performance options, takes preliminary measurements and explains the proposed installation scope. The time required depends on the number of windows or doors and the complexity of the project.

What is Falcon WD’s payment schedule?

The standard payment schedule is a 30% deposit when the project is approved and the remaining 70% after installation. Any different payment terms or separately scheduled work will be shown in the written agreement.

Production and Installation

How long does it take to receive custom windows or doors?

Many standard projects are ready in approximately three to four weeks after final measurement and deposit. Custom colours, specialty glass, entry doors, unusual sizes, rush periods and other product-specific requirements can change the production schedule. The expected timing is confirmed for the individual order.

How long does installation take?

Many smaller replacement projects can be completed in one day, while larger projects may require additional days. The final schedule depends on the number and type of products, installation method, access, finishing requirements, weather and any opening modifications.

What is normally included with installation?

The exact scope is listed in the written quote. A typical replacement project may include removal of the existing product, installation and insulation of the new unit, exterior sealing or capping, cleanup and disposal. Interior casing, jamb extensions, masonry, drywall, painting and structural work are included only when specified.

What is the difference between retrofit and full-frame window replacement?

A retrofit installation places the new window within a suitable existing frame. A full-frame or brick-to-brick replacement removes the old frame and allows the opening, insulation and exterior finish to be addressed more completely. The correct method depends on the condition of the existing frame, wall construction, exterior cladding and project goals.

Window Performance and Condensation

How do I know when my windows should be replaced?

Common signs include drafts, difficult operation, damaged frames or hardware, water entry, visible deterioration and failed insulated glass with moisture between the panes. One symptom alone does not always mean the complete window must be replaced, so the opening should be assessed before the scope is decided.

What makes a replacement window energy efficient?

Performance depends on the complete window system, including the frame, glazing, spacer, Low-E coatings, gas fill, weatherstripping, hardware and installation. ENERGY STAR certification and ratings such as U-factor and Energy Rating apply to specific tested product configurations rather than every product made by a brand.

Should I choose double-pane or triple-pane windows?

Double-pane windows can be suitable for many projects. Triple-pane glass may provide improved thermal performance, interior glass temperature and sound reduction in appropriate configurations. The best choice depends on the opening, exposure, room use, frame system, budget and performance goals.

Does condensation mean that a window has failed?

Condensation on the room-side glass is often related to indoor humidity, ventilation and exterior temperature. Moisture or fogging sealed between the panes usually indicates a failed insulated glass seal. Review our window condensation guide for a more detailed explanation.

Doors, Warranties, Opening Changes and Service Areas

Are screens included with replacement windows and doors?

Operable replacement windows are generally supplied with the appropriate screens, while fixed windows do not require them. Sliding patio doors include a screen. Entry doors do not normally include a screen door, although storm doors or retractable screens may be available separately.

What warranty does Falcon WD provide?

Warranty coverage depends on the selected manufacturer, product, glass, hardware, finish and installation scope. Falcon WD provides the applicable product and installation warranty information in writing so the customer can review the actual terms, exclusions and service process for the approved project.

Can Falcon WD enlarge an opening or change the wall for a new window or door?

Some opening changes can be quoted separately after the existing conditions are reviewed. Cutting brick, concrete or framing, adding a window well, moving services and completing structural or interior work are not automatically included with a standard replacement quote. Where permits or engineering are required, the property owner is responsible for confirming and obtaining the necessary approvals unless the written agreement states otherwise.

Which Ontario communities does Falcon WD serve?

Falcon WD serves the GTA and selected surrounding Ontario communities, including Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Aurora, Newmarket, King City, Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Caledon, Ajax, Pickering, Whitby, Oshawa, Barrie, Hamilton, Guelph, Cambridge and Kitchener-Waterloo. Availability is confirmed according to the project address and scope.
